Herbal medicine is the foundation of natural health. Herbs have been used globally for thousands of years and were the first form of healthcare! This series is a comprehensive overview of natural health, medicinal herbs and their holistic uses. Learn how to make herbal preparations, remedies, and techniques for mental, emotional, and physical wellness, spiritual development, energy clearing, and metaphysical uses. The series also focus on traditional uses, intuition, clinical research, pharmacology, safety, and integrating natural medicine with conventional medicine.
Since group classes are held over the growing season (spring and summer), a focus will be placed on gardening, cultivating, and growing your own herbs. All students will receive an herbal starter kit at the first class.
This 4 Class series includes Healing with Herbs, Emotional Healing with Herbs, Physical Healing with Herbs, & Spiritual Healing with Herbs. Certification is also available with the successful completion of the following additional requirements: homework, client case examples, treatment plans, & practicum.
Group Classes: Start again in the Milwaukee, Madison, and Manitowoc (Green Bay area) in April 2015. Dates, locations, and registration info is below. Registration is due at least 48 hours before each class.
Online Group Classes: Classes will also be offered online as live webinars starting in May 2015. Dates and registration info is below. Each 6 hour class is split into two parts, 3 hours on a Tuesday evening and then 3 hours on a Thursday evening of the same week. These live online classes will feature a webinar style presentation along with a live video presentation, and chat options. Students are emailed a detailed workbook and additional materials 24 hours before class. You will need a webcam, microphone and speakers to participate in live class. A headset is preferred as it has the best sound quality. Classroom is also available on laptops, smart phones, and tablets. You will be able to see, hear, and interact with Christina and the other students. Space is limited....class sizes are small with lots of personal attention. Registration is due at least 48 hours before each class.
Online Individual Classes maybe available by appointment throughout the year depending on Christina's schedule. You will need a webcam and microphone/headset to attend online classes. Herbs 101: Healing with Herbs
This class covers the history of herbal medicine and natural medicine, principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Naturopathy, and Ayurveda. Topics include standardization and other considerations when using medicinal herbs, selecting herbs, growing herbs in Wisconsin, harvesting herbs, cooking with herbs, and using herbs for self-care. Students will also learn how to make herbal preparations and products (decoctions, tinctures, infusions, balms, etc)and everyone will receive an herbal starter kit. Length 6 hours. Fee: $125

Herbs 102: Emotional Healing with Herbs
This class is an in-depth study of the herbs with mental and emotional healing properties. We will profile herbs for depression, anxiety, insomnia, stress, mood balance, memory, and cognition. We will discuss traditional uses as well as clinical research. A focus will be placed on herbal psychopharmacology and mode of action, drug and herb interactions, considerations, and Integrative/Complementary Medicine. Students will learn acupressure protocols and other natural health techniques to enhance herbal medicine. Length: 6 hours. Fee: $125

This class focuses on herbs for physical healing, including cardiovascular, immune system, nervous system, musculoskeletal, and endocrine system health. Herbs for female and male wellness and chronic health conditions are also covered. Other topics include herbal pharmacology, interactions, professional considerations, clinical research, traditional uses, and Integrative Medicine. Students will learn additional natural health techniques that enhance herbal medicine. Client intakes and best practices will be discussed. Length: 6 hours. Fee: $125

Herbs 104: Spiritual/Energetic Healing with Herbs
This class introduces students to the many spiritual and metaphysical uses of herbs including smudging, protection, majik, incensing, herbs to balance the chakras, herbs to cleanse and protect the aura, herbs for energy clearing, herbs for divination, herbs for connecting to the divine, ritual, lore, energy work, and more. We will also cover herbs and chi, qi, yin/yang, doshas, the 5 elements, Moxibustion, and other energetic herbal techniques. Length: 6 hours.
